General Description
This position is the functional and technical expert in the company for all international tax matters, providing expert advice on U.S. international tax laws, IRS rulings and case law, as well as familiarity with foreign tax rules which might affect the company’s operations. It is responsible for development and implementation of corporate tax policies and procedures with international tax implications, development of strategic transaction plans in complex crossborder transactions, and analyzing a wide range of business transactions to understand and recommend the optimal tax position.
Essential Functions
1. Complex strategic tax planning for major cross-border transactions, frequently involving 3 or more tax jurisidictions, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint-ventures and reorganizations.
2. Development, maintenance and implementation of transfer pricing policies worldwide which are tax compliant in all jurisdictions and provision of timely advice to the businesses on a multitude of transfer price problems.
3. Development of strategic foreign tax credit planning, using technical knowledge of US international tax legislation, foreign tax legislation and tax treaties worldwide to allow for minimization of tax expense, withholding taxes and timely use of foreign tax credits, including proper development and reporting of Sec 861 expense allocations, and forecasting of the foreign tax credit position of the company, and cooperation with treasury to accomplish tax efficient cash management on a worldwide basis. .
4. Interpretation of FASB 109 effects of all crossborder and foreign transactions on the consolidated tax position of the Company, and ability to understand and interpret multiple layers of U.S and foreign GAAP and tax accounting effects of transactions.
5. Responsibility for proper reflection of all foreign legal entity tax attributes and tax expense in consolidated financial statements, as well as accurate forecast of tax expense and cash flows relating to foreign legal entities and US international tax issues in the operating plan and on a quarterly basis.
6. Strategic management of international issues raised in U.S. tax audits and support and counsel to foreign units in case of international tax issues raised by foreign tax authorities, and management of competent authority matters.
7. Analysis of all foreign intercompany transactions and proposed mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations for Subpart F implications.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in accounting and CPA certification required.
- Minimum 8 years international tax experience in public corporation or Big 4 accounting
- Minimum 5 years proven leadership and management experience; strong motivator with solid interpersonal skills; strong verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented and organized; must have the ability to manage large, multiple time sensitive projects.
